Most of the time when we make a Divine connection, we have no doubts about it. But what about when we’re unsure? How do we know if a connection is truly Divine? When it comes to recognizing a romantic Divine connection we may realize the importance of the meeting immediately. Other times we might not realize its existence until months or even years into the relationship.

When we develop the capacity to recognize and navigate a Divine connection, we will find that magic and miracles frequent our lives. At the same time, surprising to most, Divine connections don’t always feel blissful in every moment. Sometimes they challenge us. Yet those challenges arise only with our highest good in mind.

Here we will explore what a Divine connection is and then consider their unique appearance in love relationships. Next, we’ll review the signs of Divine connection, particularly with romantic partners. Finally we will explore how to follow the spiritual guidance of Divine connections.

What is a Divine Connection?

A Divine connection has spiritual purpose. While some connections can seem random or coincidental, more often than not when we hear stories about Divine connections we will hear stories of seemingly impossible meetings. Someone in our program community experienced this recently. Surprisingly, a dating app connected two people that, by all app settings and circumstances, should never have been connected. Yet somehow they were. This meeting wasn’t by chance. It wasn’t random. It clearly had Divine intervention behind it.

A Divine connection comes into our life to serve our highest good, to serve our soul. These connections will tend to have a mutual benefit where both people feel like they’ve been brought together for a higher shared reason or purpose. Of course Divine spiritual connections can happen between any two people, and when they happen between romantic, or potentially romantic, partners they have a particular potency for transformation.

We’ll say more about this as we talk about soulmate signs of Divine connection. It’s important to remember that the deepest of spiritual connections will bring bountiful, ecstatic moments. They will often also be accompanied by truly challenging experiences. This mixture of experiences can make recognizing Divine connections in love even more difficult. Yet if we pay close attention to our internal experience, to our inner knowing, we will sense the presence of Divine connection, or not.

Divine Connection in Love 

As we look at the uniqueness of Divine connection in love, we must also point out that the use of the word Divine implies that a higher power of some sort rests both behind, and at the heart of, that relationship. While Divine connections, romantic or otherwise, arrive in our lives to serve our souls, they require no religious background or affiliation. As a matter of fact, some people who experience Divine connections actually come to realize their spirituality because of that meeting.

Whether someone believes in a higher power or not, whether they have any spiritual or religious affiliation, has no impact on whether or not this kind of sacred connection can arrive in ones life. At the same time, when it comes to Divine connections in love, some might say “God brought us together.” Others may say, “The Universe conspired for our meeting.” Still others might describe it as a miracle. Ultimately, most people have a sense, because of the orchestration of a complex chain of events that often had to happen in order for them to meet, that something beyond – something greater than themselves – had to play a part.

While we’re discussing spiritual connections in love, we also must mention that challenges don’t always indicate the relationship is meant to last. Some Divine connections come to us so that we can learn to honor ourselves, set boundaries, and say “No.” This is why navigating these connections requires a keen development of your Divine guidance system.

Finally, some Divine connections in love may last only a short time while others may last a lifetime. We know that many people, especially women, will experience a short, but intensely powerful romantic connection that awakens them to the true possibilities of sacred love and passion. Most of the time these relationships, much to the frustration and heartache of the women involved, cannot be not sustained. They’re not meant to be sustained. 

We call these kinds of relationships “Igniting Relationships” because they ignite possibility. They awaken what was asleep and dormant within. The connection shines a light on the most profound  possibilities for intimate love as well as the barriers to it. As a result, those who experience these Igniting Relationships, these Divine connections, find themselves inspired and deeply committed to doing their own inner work. They quickly choose to take their own soulful and spiritual journey, ensuring they feel truly available and ready for sustained soul connection the next time it arrives.

Signs of Divine Connection

As we explore the signs of a Divine connection you may recognize these indicators right away. Other times you may not recognize them until later, as your relationship develops. 

Signs you may have made a Divine connection:

1. Unexplained familiarity. Even though you’ve just met, you may feel as if you’ve known each other forever. You might find yourself finishing each other sentences or sensing aspects of the past that you couldn’t possibly know about one another. It might feel like you’ve just wrapped up in your favorite blanket or slipped on your favorite pair of slippers at home.
2. Impossible orchestration. When you consider how you met, you realize that it seems as if hundreds of little synchronicities all had to come together in order for the two of you to connect. Or, as in the example we offered above, it just “couldn’t” have happened, or seems impossible according to our understanding of life and the Universe.
3. Truth indicators. We all have truth indicators that arise in our body. Some people get chills, some people have flashes of warmth or coolness. Others feel a certain vibration or tingling in their legs, torso or face for example. It doesn’t matter what the somatic indicator is – and they often vary circumstance to circumstance – but if your body experiences unique sensations, or if you simply have that inner knowing, then you just might have made a Divine connection. It’s worth noting that these indicators of Divine connection are rarely sexual. 
4. Growth requirements. Similar to the idea of Igniting Relationships described above, some connections will immediately reveal a call to step more deeply into the truth of ourselves. They may call us to expand our capacity for love, trust, passion, self honor, or surrender. In other words, Divine connections almost always invite us to expand.
5. Self expression. This sign may seem contrary to the last one. Yet they can both exist. In some cases when we meet a Divine connection, we may feel as if we can naturally, authentically, be more of ourselves. This isn’t about a dependency on the other person to be a particularly “safe” space, although we may feel that. It simply means that innately we may experience a greater capacity for authentic self expression.

Additionally, those who have been in relationship for longer may see a few additional signs of Divine connection. The couple may realize that together they can make a shared contribution to the world that neither one of them could’ve made alone. They may face a significant hardship together that requires the two of them to lean much more deeply into love in order to navigate the pain of the difficulty. And finally, those in Divine connection may realize their partner to be the answer to a prayer, whether spoken or unspoken.

Recognizing and Following the Guidance

As we explore how to recognize and navigate the spiritual guidance that typically proceeds or accompanies a Divine connection, we will break the suggestions down into two categories. First, we will look at the ways Divine guidance might show up before a Divine connection appears. Then we’ll consider important guidance for sustaining this kind of sacred union.

To begin with, if you’re seeking a Divine connection, particularly romantically, we suggest that you develop your intuition. Learn to recognize the physiological truth indicators that express themselves in your body. Everyone has them, most of us don’t realize they’re there.

Next cultivate patience and trust. Divine connections happen on a Divine timeline. That means that most often they will not arrive on the timeline laid out by your personality or ego. If we don’t trust our soul to make these highest connections, then we may interfere with the process and, at least temporarily, block what was meant for us.

Then, most importantly, we want to open ourselves to receive. We cannot experience a Divine connection without having strong receiving muscles. At the same time, we must commit to not settle. A sage man once said, “No matter how great the romantic fit may feel, if my intuition says this is not my person, I will absolutely let them go.” To release what seems ideal to remain available for what’s Divine requires great self love and self trust.

Finally, as a couple in Divine Connection, you may find spiritual guidance in a variety of experiences in your relationship. Consider your conflicts to be sacred teachers. When you push each other‘s buttons, you’re being invited to heal and expand your soul expression. Pay attention to playing together as well as serving together. You might consider practicing sacred sexuality. Your partnership, embodied through the two of you, may also have its own intuitive abilities. Work on developing that together.
